The search for sustainable energy sources to power homes and businesses in Nigeria has been the focus of stakeholders in the power sector with little or no progress.
The Future Energy Nigeria Conference is set to change the narrative as it returns in November 2018 to Lagos for the 15th edition.
Industry watchers have said that project financing still constitutes the highest hurdle in realising Renewable Energy projects-Favour is given mostly to large size projects.
Renewable energy system has become a salient alternative of power in remote small mountainous and riverine regions.
High cost of electricity supply and carbon emission reduction could be achieved with the use of renewable energy.
According to them, the private sector is needed to help solve rural electrification in a timeline acceptable to the general population adding that many of the communities are accustomed to the convenience of modern electrical appliances but are forced to pay exorbitant tariffs for a power source that is unreliable and unaffordable.
The conference which has been described as the biggest in the Sub Saharan Africa power industry would therefore provide exclusive round-table networking opportunities chaired by leading organisations with innovative projects and initiatives within the energy sector.
It will also identify synergies and forge partnerships in the nation’s energy industry.
According to a statement by the organizer, “Future Energy Nigeria is the dedicated professional project that Nigeria needs to support its ascent from its current challenges.
“Future Energy Nigeria is one project in a series of continental Africa power & energy trade exhibition and conferences organised by Spintelligent.
“Reaching more than 25,000 power professionals across Africa through regional events, there is no stronger platform to provide knowledge and revenue growth to your business.
“This refreshed project will continue to drive collaboration, networking, solutions and positive results for a sector that begins to emerge from crisis.
“The only industry meeting point that discusses, debates and provides answers to the future development of the sector.
“Delivering a conference arena for consultative content, an exhibition platform for trade deals and networking for business growth,” the statement stated.
