The Nigerian Local Content Act has been described as an opportunity for companies in the oil and gas industry.
The Oil and Gas industry in Nigeria is regarded as the foremost lucrative sector in the economy.
It entails the exploration, transportation, development and sale of Nigerian oil and gas resources including upstream and downstream oil and gas operations.
Hence, the objective of the Act is to increase indigenous participation in the Oil and Gas Industry.
It is designed to promote local participation within the industry, that is, Nigerian incorporated companies.
In an exclusive chat with Petrolgas Report, Guillaume Niarfeix, Managing Director, Nordic Degrees said the inclusion of Nigerians in oil and gas operations provides a significant avenue through which skills can be acquired and subsequently the development of the industry and economy.
According to him, the success story of Nordic Degrees can be attributed to its commitment to the Local Content Act.
In his words, “We are unbeatable in Local Content. We have about 100 people working with us. I think Local content is a big opportunity.
“Some resist it which is funny because everyone says it’s impossible to do it.

“I say that I can do it and I get the contract. Nigerians are educated and want to work. I’ve been to so many places where it is much more difficult to work.

“You can get business opportunities out of Local Content. I don’t know why people are resisting it.
“What I do is that I recruit people and train them. I train my people and we are ready to work.
“Whoever says it’s impossible is defeated by me who embraces it,” he said.
Speaking further, he said his company has solutions that address challenges in the industry.
“We have the better products and solutions that address challenges.
“We build the best in Nigeria. We are a local content focused company.
“We want to be the leader in the Nigerian Oil and gas sector.
“We’ve been bringing a type of quality service to the industry that was not there before at affordable prices.
“There are many companies that buy their products through us.
“This is because we do it better and cheaper. At the end of the day, it is easier to sell because everybody wants it.
“We work with most of the IOCs and some indigenous oil and gas companies.TOTAL is one of our most successful clients.
“We foresee a very bright future. More importantly, we are building our team here,” he added.
Nordic Degrees is a Nigerian company that provides integrated services to the oil and gas industry.
It offers a diverse portfolio of innovative products and services covering the full scope of the industry which allow oil and gas companies in Nigeria reduce the cost of production while improving safety and reliability.
